Music and psychology are the main sources of inspiration for painter Frits Heimans, who is a jazz musician and psychologist himself.
In his early work, the influence of German expressionism and the Cobra movement is clearly recognizable. He often creates human figures, sometimes complex psychological biased.
In his work after 2005, a more sober style of painting came to existence, both in subject and in the use of color. However, the used techniques are more complicated and more mixed.
Impressions of cities and landscapes became more explicit and some paintings were based on jazz titles for creating abstract scenes. In the meanwhile the meaning and the story of the paintings remain psychologically inspired, although less explicitly.
